Nothing will deter most people from visiting their storage unit quite like opening it up only to find something that looks like it's out of an episode of "Hoarders". If you are sick of going out to your storage unit only to get right back in your car and leave because it's too disorganized, then it may be time to take matters into your own hands and organize your unit. This article will take a closer look at a few ways that you can make your storage unit a lot more accessible and easy to look through. Read on to learn a little bit more.

Storage Shelves

One of the first things that you should invest in is some storage shelves that you can play all along the perimeter of your storage unit. Unlike regular shelves that can only hold as much as some books, you want to invest in heavy duty shelves that can hold large storage bins. Typically, you can find these types of shelving units at home improvement stores or even at some super centers.

Storage Bins

Another thing that you should do is get rid of all of your cardboard boxes, garbage bags, and small storage containers and invest in the same size of storage container throughout. Usually medium sized storage bins can house a variety of different things including clothes, blankets, camping gear, holiday decorations, and more. Remember that the goal of getting these containers is to that they will be durable and so that it gives your entire storage unit a more cohesive look overall.

Wall Hooks

If you are storing things in your storage unit like an old push lawn mower, snow shovels, and garden rakes, then you know that there's no way that they are going to fit into storage bins. Luckily, you can still organize them if you get hooks that you can mount on to the wall. By mounting hooks, you can organize everything and get it off the floor so that it looks more cohesive. Before you drill into the walls though, make sure that you ask the storage unit manager if that's okay or if you'll get into trouble.

Being disorganized can be a real headache but this article has listed a few different ways for you to get everything clean and organized. Make sure that before you install anything that you contact the storage unit manager to make sure everything is okay.
